The Silhouette 4′ Bench has the classic appeal of park benches seen in cities and walking paths for decades but with upgrades. It features our proprietary decorative Green-Scapes bench frames. While they look like ornate black cast-iron, they’re actually made out of solid recycled plastic. That means you get the look of old fashioned cast metal bench frames but better because these can never rust and won’t need to be repainted.
The Silhouette 4′ bench seat and back are made of 2″ x 4″ planks with rounded outside edges for added comfort. The ‘plastic wood’ planks are made of solid 100% recycled HDPE plastic with UV inhibitors to protect them from fading. And because the color is all the way through, scratches don’t show as readily as they do on painted or coated products.

HDPE plastic is one of the strongest plastics made and it retains its strength and characteristics after being recycled. It’s the perfect material to use to make recycled outdoor furniture that is still recyclable at the end of its use, which is a long, long way off! Our recycled plastic planks are dense, inorganic and non-porous. These characteristics produce the benefits of being waterproof and they cannot rot. There’s no place for insects to get into the plank and there are no voids beneath where they could build a nest. And being non-porous means there are no pores to harbor bacteria and also makes them naturally graffiti resistant.
